Sports Medicine

Paul Battillo is a National Certified Athletic Trainer with 22 years of experience developing and implementing high school, collegiate and professional athletic training programs. His expertise lies in sports medicine and prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Weekly responsibilities include supervising all practices and games, emergency care and the overall well-being of students.

Since joining Mater Dei Catholic High School full-time in 2016, he has started a Sports Medicine class that gives students an opportunity to tape and wrap, learn about the body and nutrition and other sport medicine components. In addition to the class, Paul oversees a Student Trainer’s program where students can earn academic credit for their work after school. In this program, students are involved in all aspects of athletic training, including taping, emergency protocols and how to help supervise practices and games.

Before joining Mater Dei Catholic, Paul worked with the San Diego Flash Soccer and San Diego Gulls Hockey professional teams. He also works at various camps during the Summer months.
