Coach John Joyner is entering his 11th year as Head Coach and 13th year with the program. Under Coach Joyner, the Crusaders have won 1 State, 2 CIF and 4 League Championships. Overall, Marian and Mater Dei Catholic has won 16 League, 7 CIF and 2 State Championships (’03 and ‘16). Coach Joyner has sent nearly 30 athletes to play college football including 2 currently in the NFL. The Crusaders football program is one of the only programs in the county that has 2 Silver Pigskin Winners (Patrick Gates ’04 and CJ Verdell ’17) and an Iron Hog (Nick Dell’Aqua ’18) recipient.
